Benefits where HCV Progresses
The 1986-1990 Settlement provides that approved HCV infected persons may make additional applications for increased and/or other available compensation if their disease progresses. For example, you may have been paid disease level 2 compensation when your initial Claim or Late Claim was approved, but your disease has progressed since then or if it progresses in the future you may seek to be approved at a higher disease level and awarded additional compensation and/or have other types of benefits (like, for example, loss of income) become available to you.
The schedule of disease-based compensation for HCV infected persons approved under the Transfused HCV Plan and the Hemophiliac HCV Plan that is found here* describes the medical conditions and the compensation payments that correspond to each disease level. Go to www.hepcclassaction.ca to see the comparable disease-based compensation schedule for HCV infected persons approved under the Late Claims Plan.
*Payments are indexed for inflation annually. The amounts shown are based on the payment rates for 2025. In addition to the amounts shown on the schedule, the additional Special Distribution Benefits ordered by the Courts in 2017, 2018 and/or 2023 may also be payable.
