The Settlement: Who Is It For?

The 1986-1990 Hepatitis C Settlement Agreement contains two plans:

  • The Transfused HCV Plan
    As detailed in Schedule A, this plan provides compensation to persons who were infected with HCV for the first time through a Blood transfusion received in Canada during the period from and including 1 January 1986 to and including 1 July 1990 (known as the "Class Period"), and secondarily-infected spouses, secondarily-infected children and certain family members.

  • The Hemophiliac HCV Plan
    As detailed in Schedule B and the judgements, this plan provides compensation to persons who are hemophiliacs and persons with Thalassemia Major, who received or took Blood during the period from and including 1 January 1986 to and including 1 July 1990 (known as the "Class Period"), and who were infected with HCV and secondarily-infected spouses, secondarily-infected children and certain family members.
